Hi, I'm Jack Wong. Not too long ago, I was sitting right where you are today. In 2016, right around the time my son was born, I knew I needed to make a change. I wanted a more stable, high-paying career at a major tech company to support my family. So, I did what everyone on the internet told me to do: I started grinding coding problems endlessly. Every night after work—exhausted and running on empty—I tried to solve problem after problem. The result? Burnout, self-doubt, and low energy. I felt like I had to be a childhood prodigy just to land a decent engineering job.
I realized that brute-forcing hundreds of random LeetCode questions wasn't just inefficient—it was broken. Top tech interviewers don't want you to memorize solutions. They are testing whether you recognize fundamental algorithm patterns.
Once I shifted my focus from memorizing code to mastering problem-solving patterns, everything clicked. I unlocked the secret to breaking down complex problems systematically, which ultimately led to software engineering offers from Google, Amazon, and Yahoo.
I spent years inside Google, YouTube, and Yahoo, working alongside world-class engineers. But my true passion became helping others replicate that same success.

To test my methodology, I started the Bay Area JavaScript Interview Prep Meetup.
On my very first morning, only one person showed up.
The second week? Attendance doubled... to two people.
But here’s the magic: both of those early members landed offers at Google and major tech companies.
Over 260+ meetups and authoring a book on Recursion and Dynamic Programming, our community grew to over 2,000 engineers. Using this exact pattern-based framework, our members have landed roles at Google, Apple, Amazon, Cisco, Walmart Labs, HP, and high-growth startups.
You've spent day and night - picking up programming language, learning web development,
building app, and you're ready to land your dream job.

After hosting and teaching in more than 260 programming interview meetup events,
here are what attendees are saying:
“Best group for coders. Jack provided a warm, casual, inspiring welcoming atmosphere. Easy to stick to. Come and get yourself ready for your career both physical and mental. Strongly recommended!"

“Jack conducts a meetup in a way to cover short number of problems but in a systematic way. We spend time thinking , brainstorming and discussing about an approach to solving data structure related problems. If you are stuck, Jack will explain you in a fantastic way giving you a clear perspective in solving a problem. Everybody in a group is really friendly and working with the same spirit to get the solution.”

Priyanka
“Jack's meetup is a great way to get your daily does of interview preparation. The problems Jack gives are very similar to what top companies will ask. Jack and everyone attending help you work through ideas and discuss their efficiency. It's worth waking up early in the morning for these meetups since they will get you thinking about algorithms all day.”

Ravi
“It's a great group to collaborate and practice together. I like the way Jack group the questions together. He makes sure everyone understands the problems and give a helping hand if needed. When I walk out of this meet up every time, I learn something new. Would recommend this meet up. I would like to thank Jack for organizing this meet up.”
Anu
“We meet once or twice a week and solve interview questions! Jack finds good problems to discuss. We get time to solve on our own and collaborate. And we learn different ways to solve the same problems, in that course we also learn to code efficiently. Really good meetup.”
Smitha
“Nice group to share and practice interesting coding problems. It is interesting to see different approaches to solve various problems in different technologies. Jack picks good problems based on difficulty level and always fun to solve them.”

Sree
“I found this meetup very helpful! Jack prepared a lot of coding exercises for any level for every meeting and helped to understand the challenging tasks.”
Natalia
“This is a great coding practice meetup. I regularly come to this meetup for the lively, engaging and open discussion. Jack is very welcoming, he tries to answer all questions regardless of the level of the participants. I like that there is a time given to understand and try the problem individually. After a certain time, we can bring our ideas, discuss and help each other to clarify. Thanks to Jack for hosting the meetup for us !"

Selina
“Jack's meetup group is definitely helpful in practicing algorithms to make sure you are job ready. On top of the problems he provides he also is very insightful and goes above and beyond what to look out for during the interview process. Will definitely be going to more meetups in the future! Thanks Jack!”
Brian
“Nice place for practicing with algorithms and interact with other peoples. Any programming language can be used, not only JavaScript. My great thanks to Jack for his efforts and his time spent helping others.”
Victor
"Jack and this group helps a lot in learning algorithms and data structures for interview ! You could learn to become CodeMaster here !”

Ralic
“This meetup is very knowledgeable and fun, I learn a lot from attedning it, Jack is a great guy and willing to help people, I will recommend to everyone want to become a JS developer come to the meetup.”
Jive

Aady
“This is a very helpful meetup group to attend and improve your ability to develop solutions to different coding problems. We have a friendly group of regulars attending these meetups. Jack does a great job of selecting problems and discussing these. Even though the group uses javascript the questions lend themselves to other languages readily enough most of the time.”

Peter
"Jack is very awesome and a great teacher. As a beginner in JS often time I'll feel lost and intimidating when ask to solve problems; however, Jack will slowly explain the problems and make it as clear as possible. I find it very helpful, and I will definitely come back. Thanks for scheduling meetups every week =) !”

Kevin
“ These meetings have been a wonderful opportunity to play with algorithms, share ideas on approaches, and learn from others. I've definitely seen improvements in my ability to solve algorithmic challenges and in my confidence in approaching them. Many thanks to Jack and all of my fellow participants over these past months! ”

Carol
“Awesome meetup to learn Javascript and meet new people! Jack is really patient and good at break complicated concept/problems with small pieces. I will recommend this meetup to anyone who want to learn Javascript and practice algorithm interview questions. ”
Boyoung
“I found that Jack is very friendly and helpful. This is a good venue to practice for tech interviews and interact with fellow developers.”
Hanyen
“Good learning opportunity, while working with other talented people.”
